Orthodontics & Braces
- When can my child start orthodontic treatment?
- A first visit is often useful from around 8–10 years, when the permanent front teeth come through. This allows us to see early whether treatment is needed. More under Braces for Children.
- Do fixed braces hurt?
- After fitting and after check-ups there may be brief pressure or mild discomfort. This usually subsides within a few days. Modern wires and bracket designs are gentler than in the past.
- How long does treatment take?
- Duration depends on the type of misalignment and the method chosen – often between one and two years. After the active phase, the retainer phase follows for stabilisation.
- Does insurance cover the costs?
- Under certain conditions (severity of misalignment, age) funding may be available. Details can be found on our Free Braces page. We are happy to advise you individually.
- Can I get braces as an adult?
- Yes. More and more adults choose correction – with invisible braces, lingual technique or fixed braces. More under Braces for Adults.
